Orland Township Holiday Program In Full Spirit

“New Giving Tree Growing In Popularity”, “Holiday Applications Available Now”, “Adopt-A-Family Program”

Every winter brings more and more challenges to Orland Township residents, the snow, the cold, the wind, but that didn’t stop folks from coming to the Township last year to drop off donations for the annual holiday program. Braving those temperatures and icy roads, local community residents once again came through baring gifts: stuffed animals, dolls, board games, coloring books, scarves, hats, turkeys, hams, and more. As the shelves in the food pantry began to surplus and the activity center bundled up with gifts, it was once again a true showing of community togetherness and very apparent that the Orland Township area is full of caring individuals who want to help those in need.

“It’s incredibly heartwarming to receive so many generous donations from so many caring Township residents,” said Supervisor Paul O’Grady. “All the kindness from the individuals and organizations in our community led to the Holiday 2016 Program being Orland Township’s most successful holiday program to date.”

The Holiday 2016 Program helped over 400 local families last holiday season, and this year Orland Township hopes to do the same.

“The Holiday 2017 Program aims to make this holiday season a little bit easier for our local families in need,” said O’Grady. “This time of year is cheerful and peaceful and we want to make it as cheerful and peaceful as we can for as many families as we can.”

Orland Township has officially started collecting donations for the Holiday 2017 Program. All donations will be accepted at the Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, between regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For a complete list of accepted items visit our website, or call (708) 403-4222.

Along with our Holiday Program, Orland Township is also sponsoring a Giving Tree and an Adopt-A-Family Program to help families in need.

Starting November 1st residents have been coming in and choosing a gift to purchase for a child. Items listed are suggested gifts, not all items are required to buy. However, please consider purchasing one toy and one article of clothing that is listed on the gift tag.

The last day to drop off gifts is Friday, December 9, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Gifts should be brought unwrapped, with the gift tag attached, to the Orland Township office at 14807 S. Ravinia Ave, Orland Park. If you have any questions, please call Lindsay Trost or Robin Kassis at 708-403-2222.

The Adopt-A-Family Program is designed to enhance the holiday season for a less fortunate family in Orland Township by providing them with new toys & clothing. Whether you choose a small family or a large, Orland Township is certain you will make this holiday season brighter. This is a popular idea among work, church, schools and social groups!

If you would like to adopt a family, or need additional information on the Adopt-A-Family Program please contact Lindsay Trost or Robin Kassis at 708-403-4222.

For more information, please call (708) 403-4222 or visit Orland Township online at
